Dan Harden - President/CEO/Principal Designer, Whipsaw Inc. (USA)
Dan is President of Whipsaw Inc., a highly acclaimed design firm in the Silicon Valley (California). Whipsaw designs products and experiences for companies around the world including Google, Cisco, GE, Haier, Intel, Merck, Motorola, Nike, Olympus and Samsung, plus many exciting start-ups. Dan is a hands-on designer and directs the strategic and conceptual direction of most client accounts.
Pierre-Yves Panis - Vice President, Design and User Experience, Orange (FRANCE)
Pierre-Yves Panis is Design & User Experience Vice-President for internet, television, mobile and digital services provider Orange, which he joined in November 2012. He previously was Design Vice President and Art Director for Legrand, the world’s leading manufacturer of electrical wiring devices and electrical systems. Prior to joining Legrand in 2003, Pierre-Yves was Principal Designer at Moen, USA’s leading faucet, kitchen and bathroom accessories manufacturer.
Srini Srinivasan - President and CEO, Lumium Inc. (INDIA AND USA)
Srini has more than 25 years of professional experience in creative design, user experience design, telecom and wireless product design and development, company formation and venture capital raising, global marketing and sales management and manufacturing and operations. Srini is the President and CEO of LUMIUM, Inc., a creative design company that designs and delivers complete solutions in consumer electronics, smart devices, medical devices, housewares and UE design for global clients.
Tasos Calantzis - CEO, Terrestrial (SOUTH AFRICA)
Tasos is the CEO of Terrestrial, a consultancy which creates breakthrough products, services, processes and experiences for global companies like Motorola, BP and Philips. Terrestrial creates new revenue opportunities for its clients and has won several of the world's most prestigious design and innovation awards including the German Red Dot Design Award and the Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award.
Sven Baker - Chairman and Group CEO, Designworks (NEW ZEALAND)
One of the design industry’s most well-regarded thinkers, Sven Baker currently leads the Designworks Group. He has established himself as an awarded and trusted creative director on both sides of the Tasman and has been heavily involved in the design transformation of many of Australia’s most high profile organisations.
Ben Spincer - Director, Technology Strategy & Innovation, Telstra Operations (AUSTRALIA)
Ben is currently Director of Technology Strategy and Innovation at Telstra, working with the Chief Technology Office to oversee the long term technology strategy of the company. For five years previously Ben was the Director of Investor Relations at Telstra managing the relationship between the company and its shareholders through the NBN negotiations.
Jeff Julian - Director of Creative Innovation, University of Newcastle (AUSTRALIA)
Jeff Julian is highly regarded in film, advertising and design industries with multiple awards and patents, including 6 Gold CLIO'S and a V.E.S. (Visual Effects Society) Award for Best Art Direction. Jeff's success as part of Steven Spielberg's team of futurists for the film “The Minority Report” has seen him go on to work with Hollywood’s 'A-List' including Ridley Scott, the Wachowski bros., David Fincher, Brian Singer, Warner Brothers, Dreamworks SKG, Digital Domain, Paramount Studios, Universal, Sony, ILM and Disney.
Eunjoo Maing - Director, Korean Institute of Design Promotion (SOUTH KOREA)
Eunjoo Maing currently serves as a Director at Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) and is in charge of the Global Business & Cooperation Division as well as KIDP China, KIDP’s first overseas office in Beijing. During her nearly 20-year career at KIDP, she has conducted numerous significant projects such as the first national Design Census; Korea’s national initiative for recognition of young talents called ‘Next Generation Leaders program’; ‘Stanford-KIDP Design and Innovation Management program for CEOs’ with Stanford University’s SCPD; establishment of a master plan for multi-disciplinary design education in Korean universities; ‘Design Sharing’ with ASEAN member countries such as Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam; and curating Korean design pavilions for international exhibitions.
Alayne Reesburg - CEO, Cape Town Design - 2014 World Design Capital (SOUTH AFRICA)
Alayne Reesberg is the CEO of Cape Town Design NPC, the implementation agency for World Design Capital Cape Town 2014. She completed an MA in communication theory in the United States, and worked in the dot com boom in Seattle for two years, before joining Microsoft Corporation. For the next six years she was the executive producer for Bill Gates’ enterprise summit and customer interaction round-tables. In 2009 she returned to South Africa to set up her own consultancy in executive search and development. She joined the WDC team in January 2013.

Mehrdad Baghai - Managing Director, Alchemy Growth Partners (AUSTRALIA)
Mehrdad is Managing Director of Alchemy Growth Partners, a boutique advisory and venture firm in Sydney. He is co-author of the New York Times bestseller As One as well as international bestsellers The Alchemy of Growth and The Granularity of Growth. Mehrdad is chairman of Emue Technologies, an Australian venture which is the world leader in identity protection technology.
Ted Pretty - Group Managing Director and CEO, Hills Limited (AUSTRALIA)
Ted Pretty is Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ASX listed Hills Limited. Ted is a leading business executive and director with significant experience particularly in telecommunications and information technology innovation and product development. He is the Chairman of NEXTDC Limited and Australian and New Zealand Advisory Chairman of Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Satyam (part of the Indian headquartered $14bn diversified Mahindra Group).
Simone Walker - Executive Director, Family and Community Services (AUSTRALIA)
Simone is currently the Family and Community Services (FACS) Executive Director, ‘Safe Home for Life’ Reform. Simone has had extensive experience across policy development, program management and service delivery in Community Services, with a breadth of experience in the Government and NGO sectors.
Jeremy Walker - Innovation Coach / Acting Director, Customer Centred Design, Westpac Australian Financial Services (AUSTRALIA)
Jeremy is an Innovation Coach and current Acting Director of Customer Centred Design for Westpac Australian Financial Services, the retail and business banking component of the Westpac Banking Group. Over his career he has worked in both agency and client side roles, all with a deep passion for designing and improving services.
Melis Senova - Founder and Director, Huddle (AUSTRALIA)
As Founder and Director at Huddle, Melis is the main provocateur when it comes to encouraging creative and pragmatic solutions. Melis has deep academic qualifications and vast business experience, underpinned by a PhD in Human Factors (user-centred design). Her areas of expertise covers service strategy, strategic service design, experience design, concept prototyping, systems engineering, program management and human factors research.
Sam Bucolo - Professor of Design and Innovation, UTS (AUSTRALIA)
Sam is a leading academic and practitioner in the emerging field of design led innovation, and has led projects which have transformed businesses by embedding design capability. As Professor of Design and Innovation at the University of Technology Sydney, he leads a team investigating the value of Design Led Innovation to the Australian Economy. Through multiple practice led and applied research projects, the core of Sam’s published research is a better understanding of the relationship of design led innovation to business strategy and organisation value.
John Russell - CEO, RME (AUSTRALIA)
John Russell, a young Mechanical Engineer with five years experience in the mining industry, moved to Toowoomba in 1985 in order to realise his dream of inventing and manufacturing world-class mining and mineral processing equipment in Australia. One of RME’s early projects was the design, manufacture and installation of four ‘Isa Sizer’ vibrating screens. The Isa Sizer was invented by John Russell while employed by Mt Isa Mines (MIM) and were originally distributed under licence to MIM. Today, Russell Mineral Equipment Pty Ltd (RME) is recognised as the world’s leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of mineral grinding Mill Relining Machines and associated equipment.
Mark Strom - Historian and Midwife of Ideas, Leadership Provocateur (AUSTRALIA)
Mark loves life-giving ideas. He has a rare gift for sparking and animating new conversations from ideas old and new. Mark has been doing this for over twenty-five years with parents and communities, and with business, government and not-for-profit leaders. Half philosopher and half story-teller, Mark’s ability to breathe new life into ideas and conversations is grounded in his own eclectic story: from debilitating childhood illnesses to turnaround CEO; from little schooling to a PhD in the history of ideas; and from truck-driving to advising senior leaders in mining, infrastructure, and education.
